Malta

Malta is a southern European country in the Mediterranean Sea. Malta gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1964 and became a republic in 1974. Malta was admitted to the United Nations in 1964 and to the European Union in 2004; in 2008, it became part of the eurozone. The capital of Malta is Valletta. Malta has two official languages: Maltese and English.
The Individual Investor Programme of the Republic of Malta (IIP), by virtue
of Legal Notice 47 of 2014, allows for the granting of citizenship by a
certificate of naturalisation to individuals and their families who contribute
to the economic and social development of Malta. Subject to a stringent
vetting and diligence process, including thorough background checks, the
applicants and their dependants are granted citizenship in exchange for
such contribution.

  The main applicant must be at least 18 years of age, a spouse, children under 25 years of age, unmarried and economic fully supported by his or her parents can apply the Malta Citizenship together.
  Applicants should have no criminal record and no any contagious diseases.
  The main applicant can be granted citizenship by meeting the following investment requirements.
      * Make a contribution to the National Development and Social Fund at least US$650,000 depending on the number of dependents included in the application.
      * Undertakes to purchase an immovable residential property in Malta for a minimum value of €350,000 or take on lease on such immovable residential property in Malta for a minimum annual lease of €16,000 per annum and to be retained for a minimum period of 5 years from the date of purchase or lease.
      * An investment in stocks, bonds or special purpose vehicles to be identified by Identity Malta, for a minimum value of EUR 150,000 to be held for a minimum period of 5 years.

  Acquiring Maltese citizenship also confers the benefits of European Union citizenship, since Malta has been a member of the European Union since 2004.
